Two out of four suspected criminals shot dead by the Tanzanian Police on Tuesday have been identified to be Zambians.

 
Muchinga Province Deputy Police Commissioner Peter Bubeshi has confirmed the development to ZANIS in Tunduma August 4th.

 
Mr. Bubeshi said so far only two of the criminals have been positively identified and named them as Peter Mumba and Isaac Zulu both of Matero in Lusaka.
 
The Deputy Police Chief said relatives of the two bandits have since been informed and police are waiting for them to come forward and identify their relatives adding that two other bodies have not yet been identified.

 
He said that all the four bodies are still lying at Tunduma Hospital Mortuary.

 
Four suspected criminals believed to be Zambians were on Tuesday morning gunned down at Tuduma in Tanzania by the Tanzanian police in an exchange of heavy gun fire.
 
Both Tanzanian police and Muchinga Deputy Commissioner of Police Peter Bubeshi confirmed the incident in an interview with ZANIS at Tuduma August 3rd.

 
Mr. Bubeshi said the four suspected criminals were gunned down at about 11:00 hours on Tuesday when they staged a day-light robbery at beer depot located at Songea about 6 km inside Tuduma town from the Zambian border town of Nakonde.
 
Mr. Bubenshi said Tanzanian police have since recovered 400,000 cash Tanzanian Shillings equivalent to K1.6 million, an AK 47 asault rifle and a Semi Automatic Machine Gun (SMG).

 
One of the deceased was also found with a ticket for a Zambian bus operating between Lusaka and Nakonde which showed that he arrived in Nakonde in the morning of Tuesday and allegedly took part in staging a robbery.

A a team of Zambia Police officers from Chinsali which arrived at Tuduma Tanzania yesterday for further investigations has remained here to help with the investigations.
