Police Sergeant crushed by train in Nakonde

A Paramilitary Police Officer in Nakonde District in Muchinga Province has been crushed to death by a Dar-es-salaam – Kapiri Mposhi bound express passenger train.

Both Nakonde Acting District Commissioner Mwale Kasase and TAZARA Police Commandant Alex Chilufya have confirmed the accident in separate interviews with the ZANIS in Nakonde today.
 

Nakonde Acting DC said that the police officer identified as Sergeant George Banda was crushed to death around 05:30 hours this morning near Nakonde TAZARA main station.

Mr. Kasase said the body of the deceased is lying in Nakonde District Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial.

Sergeant George Banda was stationed at Tanzania Zambia Railways Authority (TAZARA) Nakonde main station until he met his fate.
