WORLD Boxing Council welterweight champion Charles Manyuchi, who had his trophy and passport confiscated by Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) officials on Wednesday met President Robert Mugabe this Thursday morning.

He was then paraded before Cabinet ministers.

In a clip played on ZBC lunch time news, Mugabe joked and said, “He is a true Zimbabwean, a son of the soil and also Zanu-PF son”.

On his part, Manyuchi said his dream of meeting Mugabe face to face has come true.

Manyuchi retained his title after beating Italian Gianculla Frezza into submission in the sixth round in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy on Saturday night.

He received $9 000 for his latest exploits.

In November 2014, Manyuchi successfully defended his title against Colombian Devis Caseres Navaro with a technical knockout.

The same year, he won the Zimbabwean sportsperson of the year accolade.

    • You really believe what you are saying? That kind of ignorance belongs to the medieval ages. If it’s training that made him what he is, then why didn’t u pick any Zambian off the streets and make him a manyuchi?

    • And why didn’t you train him from Zimbabwe…..in terms of sports your country is very behind!
