Ten United Party for National Development-UPND members in Chankalamu ward in Kalulushi have defected to the Patriotic Front (PF).

Constituency Chairlady Rashida Mulenga told ZANIS in a telephone interview that 10 UPND members today resigned from their party and joined the ruling party.

Ms. Mulenga said the 10 opposition members have seen that the PF was working hard to improve the living standards of people.

She said the defection took place today at a meeting the PF held in that ward.

Meanwhile, the PF in Kalulushi has embarked on the recruitment of officials in readiness for the 2016 elections.

Ms. Mulenga said the party in the area want to recruit more members to ensure an easy victory in 2016.
