Zesco United and Zambia coach George Lwandamina has praised veteran striker Winston Kalengo for his good international form.

The 30-year-old Zesco striker has scored two goals in as many games for Zambia in competitive over the last month in the 2016 Caf African Nations Championship qualifiers.

“It is inspiring to the young boys I am sure,” Lwandamina said who also coach’s Kalengo at club level.

“This is a developmental side and if we can have an experienced player scoring goals I am sure that even the young ones will be able to say; ‘what about us?’ it will encourage them to do better.”

Kalengo scored in the Chan qualifier first leg against Namibia that Zambia lost 2-1 in Windhoek on June 21.

The Zesco striker was again on target in the final leg on July 4 in a 2-1 home win for Zambia in Lusaka.

Kalengo later converted a spot-kick in the post-match penalty of the final leg match to decide which side advance to October’s final round qualifying round.

The striker is a late addition to the Zambia set-up and is also the national teams’ top scorer in 2015 on two goals while he tied at the top of the Faz Super League scorers chart on eight goals with Jimmy Ndhlovu of Nkana.
