Three die on the spot in Chitambo road accident

Three people have died on the spot while three others are admitted to Chitambo District Hospital when the vehicle they were traveling in over turned along Mansa- Samfya road in Chitambo.

 

ZANIS in Serenje reports that Acting Serenje District Commissioner Kenney Mungendenge confirmed the incident to ZANIS in an interview in Serenje today.

 

Mr Mungendenge said the incident happened around 08:00 hours yesterday at Katonga area along the Mansa- Samfya road when the driver of the vehicle tried to avoid a pot hole but lost control and over turned seven times.

 

He revealed that the vehicle registration numbers ALJ 6048 belonging to Royal Priesthood Ministries was being driven by Pastor Vetty Mwanza (38) of Libala South in Lusaka and that the group were travelling to Luapula province for church work.

 

Mr Mungendenge also identified the deceased as a Mr Kasongo of ZESCO in Lusaka, Mrs Rose Bwalya and a Mrs Chipipo both also of Lusaka while three who are admitted to Chitambo District Hospital are Michael Ngoma 21, Karen Kangambe 51 both of Woodlands and Mrs Theresa Chanda Musonda 41 of Nyumbayanga in Lusaka.

 

And residents of Katonga area have appealed to the Road Development Agency (RDA) to quickly patch up the pot holes that has been protruding on the road before many lives are lost because several accidents have occurred at the same spot.
Bodies of the three deceased are lying in the Serenje District Hospital mortuary waiting for post mortem.
