FAZ to headhunt a reputable coach for Chipolopolo

THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) will apply the headhunting process in the engagement of a national team coach.
Communications manager Nkweto Tembwe said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that the association has ammunition both at secretariat and executive committee level to headhunt a reputable coach that will take the national team to higher heights.

 
Tembwe said the national soccer governing body has already started the headhunting process and a new coach will be engaged soon.
He said the process may be finalised before the next 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya.
Zambia are away to Kenya on September 5.
FAZ sidelined Honour Janza on June 8 and replaced him with George Lwandamina.

 

“We will headhunt, FAZ has enough experience both at secretariat and executive level to effectively headhunt for a coach,” Tembwe said.
He said all the FAZ executive committee members have experience at different levels to effectively handle the headhunt process.

 

FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya, who is also a qualified coach, has played in four continents and is a Confederation of African Football executive committee member and also sits on various committees at FIFA while vice-president Boniface Mwamelo is a corporate guru.

 

Meanwhile, FAZ has made strides in the implementation of club licensing which will be effective next year.

Lusaka yesterday that any Super Division club that will be found wanting will be relegated.
“Club licensing will ensure professionalism, credibility and transparency among the many other valuable developmental programmes that will come along with it if implemented,” Mwanza said.

 

He said fears that club licensing will negatively affect the league are unfounded and that FAZ will soon engage clubs in the sensitisation programme starting with Chingola and ending with Choma.
And the league will go on a three-week recess after this weekend’s games.
Tembwe said the association, under the technical directorate, will take advantage of the midseason break to conduct coaching courses that include CAF C, CAF B and FAZ D licensing courses.

 

He commended former players that have taken interest in coaching courses and named some of them as former Nkana defender Billy Mwanza, his Green Buffaloes counterpart Dennis Banda and former Green Eagles midfielder Kebby Hachipuka.
