George Lwandamina is very eager to banish his ghosts from the 2011 Chan qualifiers when Zambia face Namibia on Sunday in Windhoek in a 2016 qualifying match.

Lwandamina had a forgettable first and brief stint as Zambia coach in 2010 when Chipolopolo were eliminated from the Sudan 2011 qualifiers by South Africa in the final qualifying round.

“It will definitely motivate me,” Lwandamina said.

“We will do everything possible to qualify. It is everybody’s wish to qualify so we will work extra hard and get past Namibia.”

Lwandamina’s two-match reign four years ago saw Zambia lose 1-0 at home in the final leg in Lusaka against South Africa who advanced 2-1 on aggregate to the Sudan finals.

The interim Zambia coach also heads into Sunday’s away game still searching for his debut win at the helm after drawing 0-0 at home on June 13 in a 2017 Africa Cup Group E qualifier against Guinea Bissau.

Meanwhile, Zambia will host Namibia in the final leg to be played on July 4.

The winner will face Mozambique or Seychelles in the final-round decider in October for a place at next year’s tournament in Rwanda.

The victor of the Zambia/Namibia game will be at home in the final round, first leg qualifier on October 17 while the final leg will be played a week later.
