MMD President Nevers Mumba says there is no existing alliance between the MMD and Patriotic Front as reported in some sections of the media.
Briefing journalists on the resolutions of the MMD NEC meeting held on Saturday, Dr. Mumba says the only existing relationship is between the PF and former Republican President Rupiah Banda and his followers.
Dr. Mumba says the former President’s group does not represent the MMD because they crossed the political floor when they abandoned their own party in preference for another.
He explains that while there has been talk for a possible working relationship between the legitimate MMD and the PF, no party to party talks have so far taken place and no memorandum of understanding has been signed.
And Dr. Mumba says the party has pardoned seventeen Members of Parliament who were suspended for supporting other presidential candidates in the 20th January presidential election.
Dr. Mumba has also disclosed that the NEC has also lifted the expulsion of three MPs in the spirit of reconciliation.
