A WOMAN has died on the way to the hospital after the vehicle she was driving hit into an oncoming truck and trailer.
Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa, who confirmed this yesterday, said the accident happened on Tuesday at about 17:00 hours on the Kitwe-Chingola road after the deceased failed to stick to her lane.
She identified the deceased as Prudence Kunda, 27, of Second Street in Nchanga South, Chingola.
Ms Kasosa said Ms Kunda suffered a deep cut on her stomach and fractures on both legs.
“She failed to keep to her lane and hit into the truck and trailer that was coming in the opposite direction,” she said.
And police in Chililabombwe have arrested a 19-year-old man who was found driving a stolen vehicle.
Ms Kasosa said the vehicle, which was stolen in Lusaka, was intercepted at Kasumbalesa border post enroute to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Ms Kasosa identified the suspect, of Matero in Lusaka, as Zenzo Mukutwa who was in the company of other people who scampered when police approached.
