Two people have survived death in separate incidences after their houses were set ablaze by unknown people while they were sleeping.

 

ZANIS reports that incidences happened in Mpulungu district of Northern province.

 

Northern Province Police Deputy Commissioner Alfred Nawa who confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kasama today said the incidences occurred in Musende village of Chief Tafuna’s area.

 

Mr. Nawa explained that the survivors namely January Sikazwe 38, and John Chanda 31 of the same village escaped death after some unknown people burnt their houses for unknown reasons around 22:00 hours on Wednesday.

 

He added that the houses for both survivors and property worth over K6,000.00 have since been burnt to ashes.

 

The police Deputy Commissioner further said investigations have since intensified into the matter.

 

Mr. Nawa has also warned community members to desist from such acts saying whoever will be found wanting will face the wrath of law.

   

He said a case of arson is a capital offense which attracts a long jail sentence.
