Inonge Wina has urged Petauke residents to vote for Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Dora Siliya

VICE-PRESIDENT Inonge Wina has urged Petauke residents to vote for Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Dora Siliya in the June 30 by-election.
Mrs Wina said the former lawmaker is a hard worker who will help facilitate development in the area once voted into office.
She said this when she drummed up support for Ms Siliya at Kaulu Day School grounds in Chief Kalindawalo’s area in Petauke on Friday.
“What I have seen here is that God has already chosen a leader because there is no way people of Petauke can say no to their former member of Parliament (MP) whom they voted for before,” she said.
The Vice-President said President Lungu was voted for because of his hard work, adding that a similar measure should be used for Ms Siliya.
She said President Lungu embraces every Zambian regardless of tribe as demonstrated by appointing a female vice-president from Western Province, despite not getting many votes from the region.
Mrs Wina said Government wants to develop the whole country as evidenced by road construction and electrification of rural areas across the country.

She said Government has invested in the education sector, pointing out that Kaulu Day School now has a modern laboratory to encourage pupils, especially girls, to pursue engineering and medicine after completing secondary school.
She said Government is investing in the education sector to ensure pupils have a bright future, warning that the girl-child should not be married off.
Mrs Wina said President Lungu will soon visit Petauke and urged locals to work with Government to bring development to rural areas.
Eastern Province minister Malozo Sichone and Chipangali MP Vincent Mwale said Ms Siliya is known for her constructive debates in Parliament.
Ms Siliya pleaded with the people to give her a second chance to continue being the “voice for the voiceless” in Parliament.
She told the people that she will not let them down once voted for as she will ensure their concerns on agriculture, education and water are addressed.
Earlier, Mrs Wina was impressed that a young entrepreneur, Naomi Phiri, 27, who received K320, 000 from the Citizens’ Economic Empowerment Commission produces peanut butter and soyabean cooking oil.
The Vice-President, who visited the entrepreneur at her trading shop, said it is gratifying to learn that 17 people, who include 10 women, have been employed but was concerned with outdated machinery being used.
And Mrs Wina has called for issue based campaigns in the forth-coming Malambo by-elections.

Ms Wina said electorates are only interested in hearing about developmental projects aspiring candidates will bring and not violence.
The vice-president said in Mambwe yesterday. She is in the district to drum up support for PF Malambo candidate Jacob Shuma.
Ms Wina said PF will focus on development issues and how it will continue to work with the communities in addressing their plight.
She urged all political parties to remain peaceful during campaigns even under provocation.
She also thanked Mambwe residents for voting for President Lungu in the January 20 presidential elections and hoped the gesture will be replicated in the June by-elections.
Ms Wina said the concerns of looming hunger are not only in Mambwe but in many other parts of the country as well.
Ms Wina urged Malambo residents to vote for Mr Shuma whom she directed to continue working with the people once voted as area member of Parliament this month.
Mr Mwale, who is also Youth and Sports Minister, said the MMD is supporting PF because it embraces everyone.
Earlier, Ms Wina urged traditional leaders in the country to start teaching their subjects the importance of crop diversification.
She said this when she paid a courtesy call at senior Chief Nsefu at his palace in Mambwe yesterday.
