FIVE people have died in separate road accidents in Lusaka.
Lusaka Province commissioner of police Charity Katanga said in an interview yesterday that the accidents happened on Saturday in different parts of the city.
Mrs Katanga said in Westwood area, a rider was knocked down by a vehicle and died on the spot.
She said the other accident involved a car which overtook a Zesco truck and cut in front at a curve, causing two employees to fall off.
Ms Katanga said the two Zesco workers died on the spot.
“The careless driver is a police officer from Chinsali.

 

He has been detained and charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
“The police officer was not on duty and he was driving a private vehicle,” she said.
Another accident occurred in Chawama involving a Mitsubishi Pajero, which knocked down a pedestrian who died on the spot.
The vehicle was being driven by a man only identified as David.
And on Kafue Road, a driver identified as Muyunda Ngosa of Mazabuka hit a pedestrian, killing him instantly.
