Heroine Boxing, Esther Phiri has revealed that she lived an unhealthy life unknowingly. This comes after she was placed under the watchful eye of a dietician, Eric Buitendijk ahead of her match on Friday.

Esther Phiri will fight Sandra Almeida of South Africa for the World Boxing Federation and Women International Boxing Association welterweight unification title.

In an interview with LusakaVoice, Esther Phiri confessed that she had been eating everything unhealthy.

“ You know I would just wake up and maybe eat nshima in the morning and just got straight to practice.

“ Being under a dietician now, I am aware of the correct eating habits that I supposed to practice without putting my health at risk. To be honest eating healthy is boring though,” she said.

The dietician, Eric Buitendijk said he had put Esther on an endurance diet, where she was cutting on carbohydrates and fats.

“ She was on an endurance diet, a diet that aims to make her stronger. She was mostly eating high fibre food which can be processed and burned by the body quickly. I also made sure she got enough rest. Now she has the correct weight and is fit to get into the ring,” he said.

Esther’s opponent Sandra is expected in the country today.
