One of five students wounded by gunfire in a Boko Haram attack on a school in northeast Nigeria died of his injuries on Monday, the college said.

Musa Umar Gamari had been shot in the chest and was buried on Monday, in accordance with Islamic custom, according to a notice posted at the College of Business and Administrative Studies in Potiskum town.

He is survived by his wife and one child, it said.

A suicide bomber and a gunman attacked the school on Saturday with gunfire and two explosions before they were overcome by police and soldiers.
Another 45 people injured themselves by jumping out of windows and scaling walls to escape.

A man arrested at the scene was later found to be innocent and released, police said.

It was the first school attack reported since a three-month-old multi-national offensive drove the Islamic extremists out of towns seized last year.

Nigeria’s military says the insurgents’ main fighting force is hemmed into the Sambisa Forest, where they are being pursued.

At least 700 girls and women held in captivity by the militants have been freed as soldiers have destroyed about 20 forest camps.
