The African Union Heads of States summit ends

The African Union -AU- Committee of Ten tasked to lobby for United Nations -UN- reforms, Heads of States summit has closed, with a call to address Historical Injustices against Africa.

The summit, which was held on Saturday in Livingstone, Zambia, was attended by President Edgar Lungu, President Hage Geingob of Namibia and President Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone.

A ministerial meeting was earlier held, with representation from Algeria, Libya, Uganda, Kenya, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia.

 

And in a Communique issued after the summit, the leaders have agreed to a Re-Invigorated demand on the international community to address historical injustices, inflicted on Africa.

The summit has also agreed to continue to Canvass for support towards Africa’s demand for reforms in the UN Security Councils, so that it can truly reflect fairness in its global outlook and structure.

The leaders have further reaffirmed inter-governmental negotiations with current influential UN member-states, in order to expedite the reforms in the security council.

The resolutions of the heads of states summit were read out by Zambia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Harry Kalaba.

 

And Zanis reports that Namibian President Hage Geingob has called on Africa to be forceful in pushing for a permanent seat on the security council.

Dr Geingob made the call when he addressed journalists at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula international airport today in Livingstone.

The Nambiamn Head of State is in the country to attend the Africa Union Committee of Ten (C10) which has since been closed.
