Malawi names locals for Zambia match

Malawi coach Young Chimodzi has named a squad of only home-based players for this Sunday’s friendly match in Zambia.

Be Forward Wanderers in-form striker Muhamad Sulumba has made the squad alongside his team mates Isaac Kaliati and Malumbo Gondwe.

 

Other surprise inclusions in the squad are Amos Khamula (Airborne Rangers), Chikoti Chirwa (Red Lions) and Tizgobele Kumwenda (Silver Strikers) and Pilirani Zonda (Big Bullets) who was drafted in late.

Malawi is tuning up for the 2015 Cosafa Cup to get underway in South Africa on May 17 2015 followed by the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers mid June.

 
The first Afcon home game is against Zimbabwe mid next month in Group L comprising Swaziland and Guinea.

Malawi will play Zambia on May 10 followed by South Africa on May 22 and Egypt on June 8, FAM chief executive officer Suzgo Nyirenda said yesterday at the Chiwembe Technica Centre, Blantyre.

Midfielders: Chikoti Chirwa (Red Lions), Micium Mhone, John Banda (both Blue Eagles), Fischer Kondowe (Big Bullets), Ernest Tambe (Surestream FC), Malumbo Gondwe (Be Forward Wanderers), Victor Limbani (Silver Strikers).

 

Midfielders: Peter Wadabwa (Silver Strikers), Isaac Kaliati, Muhamad Sulumba (both Be Forward Wanderers), Amos Khamula (Airborne Rangers), Tizgobele Kumwenda (Silver Strikers).
