03 May,2015  : CHISHIMBA Kambwili says he does not accept Dora Siliya’s defection from MMD to the ruling PF.

Yesterday, Siliya officially defected to the PF and was immediately poised as the favourite candidate for the forthcoming Petauke Central parliamentary by-election.

But Kambwili, who is also information minister and chief government spokesperson, said he would rather sell his soul to the devil than accept Siliya as a PF member because, according to him, she had insulted Michael Sata. Announcing her defection in Petauke, the former MMD spokesperson and communications minister said she was humbled by the welcome she had received from PF and promised to serve the party to the best of her ability “I have officially resigned today (yesterday) from MMD to join the PF. I am grateful for all the support and colleagues I worked with in MMD but I have now joined PF,” said Siliya.

“I am humbled that the PF have welcomed me and I will serve the party to the best of my ability.” But shortly after Siliya’s defection, Kambwili said there was no way she could be accepted in PF when on Saturday last week, she was describing Sata’s three-year rule as having been worse than xenophobia. “On that one, I will sell my soul to the devil!” he reacted in a disconcerted voice. “For me, Dora must apologise for insulting Mr Sata. As long as that is not done, her coming into the party, that won’t sit down well with me. She is saying Sata’s three-year rule was more than xenophobia, that is unacceptable. Personally, I have not welcomed her until she apologises publicly.” Kambwili went further to spell out the words that Siliya should use to get her apology accepted.

“The key words she should say are: ‘I apologise for what I said and I thank Mr Sata for this platform that I want to join’,” he said. “The problem with me is I am not a pretender, I call a spade a spade. If Dora can insult Mr Sata today, what will stop her from insulting President (Edgar) Lungu when he is out of office tomorrow?” Kambwili also sounded a warning to those who were joining PF to respect founder members who worked hard for the party. “As the Chinese saying goes, ‘You cannot insult people who dug the well from which you are drinking’.

So I personally will not allow anyone to insult the founder members of the PF. Mr Sata suffered a lot for this party and anyone who attacks any of the founding members is my enemy. Mr Sata sacrificed a lot and I would like to warn those who want to join the PF that I will not tolerate anyone who insults him,” said Kambwili. At a press briefing last Saturday shortly after the Supreme Court cleared her to recontest her Petauke seat, Siliya said people’s liberties had been infringed upon  over the past three years. “Never before, at least in my adult life, have I seen people’s liberties being infringed upon as in the last three years.

The panga-carrying xenophobic attacks in South Africa shock us, but they remind us of the path our country almost took, with panga-carrying cadres on the streets of Lusaka and in various by-elections,” she said. And during election campaigns in 2011, Siliya told Minga residents in Patauke not to vote for the PF and Sata because the party wanted to legalise homosexuality. She warned the men in her constituency that if they voted for PF, they would be having each others’ hard bums to touch instead of the soft, feminine ones like hers. “…it’s the same with Sata.

He is saying now when he is outside government that he can do this. It is like that woman who does not ask why her friend chased the husband. Sata is a bad man. You can tell from his face that he is a bad man and giving him a vote is wasting,” Siliya said in Nsenga.

She further asked the men in her audience to admire her beauty and not each other’s beards because the Laws of Zambia prohibited homosexuality. Siliya said men should enjoy the pleasure of touching a woman’s soft bums as that was the only way that people would bear children. “Muniuzhya anyamata mwatawelela pano mukumbwila lini neo mukumbwilana ndevu? Mweo azimai seka-seka pangachoke vumo? Sichalo kusila? Analume mungakatane mweka mweka mafiga yokosa osati yamwanakazi? Vunvwika nga nivosekesha ka? (You men here, are you not admiring me? Are you admiring each other’s beards? You women, can you get pregnant from a fellow woman?

Isn’t that the end of the world? You men, can you enjoy touching each other’s hard bums instead of a woman’s?)” she asked, amid cheers from the villagers who were eager to receive vitenge and other campaign materials from her. At another rally at Chisonso village in 2011, Siliya charged that Sata had no respect for women because he did not come from human beings and as such, he was not taught to respect people. “A Sata teti munthu mwanalume ula msinkhu nga na sikulu aba ali apa kutukana mwanakazi nikuzikonshya kuti lomba aba asikulu kwechoka nikuumunthu? Nikuumunthulini yai sitetyo? (Sata an old man like this grandfather seated here insulting a woman, you have to ask yourselves to say, ‘This old man, does he come from humans beings?

He doesn’t come from human beings, isn’t it?)” she remarked. Siliya said Sata was not cultured because where he was raised, there was no respect. “Kwekulila a Sata kwenzeve ulemu chifukwa kuti kwenze ulemu sembe ebaphunzisa. Sembe oyopa kuti ningakambelini teti, nikakamba teti banthu anione kuti niliye nzelu. (Where Sata was brought up, there was no respect. If there was respect, he was going to be cultured. He was going to be afraid to say what he says and know that when I say this, people will see me to be dull),” she said. Siliya said when a man insults a woman like her, he insults his own mother.

“Chifukwa mwanalume kutukana mwanakazi, mwanalume ali nanyina, nambuyabake, akazi bake, alongosi bake ndiye kuti ndiye bakutukana. (A man who has a mother, a grandmother, a wife, a sister when he insults a woman, it means those are the people he is insulting),” she said. Just like in Minga, Siliya warned the men against voting for PF because it would enact gay laws. “Lomba teti mweo mwanalume mukumbwila lini neo mukumbwilana ndevu? Mweo azimai sekaseka pangachoke vumo?

Sindiye kusila kwa banthu kuno kwa Chisonso, Analume mungakatane mweka mweka mafiga yokosa osati yamwanakazi? (You men here, are you not admiring me.Are you admiring each other’s beards? You women, can you get pregnant from a fellow woman? Isn’t that the end of the world? You men can you enjoy touching each other’s hard bums instead of a woman’s?)” she said. At this stage, the men responded in unison saying, “Tukumbwila ngako, makamaka matako. (We admire a lot especially your buttocks),” they said as one of them shouted, “Ufunika fasa engine, niwele nizekateko maziba? (You need real sex; can I come and touch your breasts?).”
