Police in Kasama have shot and wounded one of the most wanted notorious criminals in the area.
Northern Province Police Deputy Commissioner Alfred Nawa confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Kasama today.
Mr. Nawa explained that the incident happened yesterday in Milima area where the suspect was found and tempted to run after the seeing police perusing him.
Mr. Nawa said Police ordered him to stop running and fired a warning shot and finally shot him on his left thigh after noticing that he was not cooperative.
The Police Commissioner named the suspect as Mulenga Mausala 23, commonly known as Cool. J
He added that Mulenga is an ex-convict who was just released from prison in January this year.
He however said that the suspect had continued with various serious criminal activities such as house breaking and theft.
Mr. Nawa explained that the suspect was recently reported to have been involved in breaking and stealing K100, 000 at a named Guest house in Kasama.
He explained that the suspect has since been admitted to Kasama General Hospital where the Doctor have described his condition as stable.
