The Zambia Bureau of Standards -ZABS- has destroyed sub-standard and counterfeit goods, worth over K383,000.

The goods, among them shoe polish, electric cables and second-hand clothes, were confiscated between January and March this year.

ZABS Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Hazel Zulu explained that the incinerated products include 482 packs of shoe polish, valued at K26,000, 336 rolls of electric cables valued at K223,000 and 89 bales of second-hand underware garments.

Ms. Zulu has since warned traders that ZABS will continue to enforce the Standards Act, and further propose the revoking of trading licences, where possible.-ZNBC
