JULIUS GONDWE OF KAPONGOLO VILLAGE IN KASAMA HAS DISPELLED REPORTS SUGGESTING THAT HIS 25-YEAR-OLD SON DIED AFTER HE WAS RUN OVER BY A TRAIN.
Mr Gondwe told Mano News
today that his son Jacob was not run over by a train as reported but that he was killed by people who later put him on the rail line to show that he was hit by a train.
He said following a postmortem conducted at Kasama General Hospital; it was revealed that his son sustained seven cuts on the head, broken ribs and missing private parts.
Mr Gondwe added that his son had his left leg amputated; and his left arm crushed
Mr Gondwe has since appealed to police to investigate the matter thoroughly saying the earlier statement that his son died after he was run over by a train was not true.
It was reported that Jacob Gondwe a 25-year-old resident of Kapongolo village died after being run over by a train as he was sleeping on the rail line.
Northern Province Deputy Commissioner of police, Alfred Nawa said the incident happened last Friday around 02:00 hours in Kasama’s TAZARA area.
Commissioner Nawa said the deceased was reportedly attempting to cross the railway line as he was returning home from drinking but fell asleep on the rail line.
