“We must be tired of seeing ourselves as a country with immense potential. This is a song that has been sung for far too long and it’s getting irritating in the ear”, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Given Lubinda has said.
Launching the “Amiran Open Filed Kit”, at the AgrieTech Expo 2015 in Chisamba yesterday, Lubinda said it was important to move forward by producing results than just having potential.
The Amiran Open Field Kit is a modern farming kit, which has been designed specifically for the Small Scale Farmer and incorporates agro-support with proper farm management.
He urged youths to embrace new farming technologies so as to create employment for themselves.
“This kit is going towards smart farming which is suitable for the youths. Youths can go into the fields with their tie and jackets and come out carrying tomatoes.
“Efficiency be improved with modern technology. This is an opportunity for youths who want everything to be smart like the smart phone,” he added.
The Minister said people should stop self-pitying as it was not developing the country.
Amiran also said youth employment was of critical developmental concern to the government of Zambia.
“ We want them to know that farming is cool and that there is money to be made if one takes a focused business approach using the Amiran Open Field Kit model.
Amiran Zambia is a commercial company and subsidiary of the Balton CP Group that operates solely on the African Continent.
