THE Supreme Court has upheld the death sentence imposed on a 37-year-old police officer of Mongu and two others for murdering a man suspected of practising witchcraft.
Charles Masumba, a police officer, Chinyama Chinyama, 25, and Wamundila Nosiku, 30, appealed against their conviction and sentence.
The trio appeared before Supreme Court judge Munyinda Wanki, sitting in Kabwe with judges Elizabeth Muyovwe and Mumba Malila on Tuesday.
Masumba, Chinyama and Nosiku were convicted and sentenced to death by the Mongu High Court on April 19, 2013 for the murder of Daniel Liwanga.
“We therefore find no merit in the grounds of appeal and the appeal is dismissed,” Mr Justice Wanki said.
