Zambian Government to build more School

Government says it will only start building more new secondary schools when works for the ongoing construction of the 1 hundred and 18 secondary schools, that started in 2008, are completed.

Education Minister, Michael Kaingu, says the project is now in the third phase and external works are being done and expected to be completed before the end of the year.

Dr. Kaingu disclosed this when he visited Nangweshi secondary school, which is among the 1-hundred and 18 in Sioma district Yesterday.

The school partially opened on July 10th, 2014 with hundred and fifty two pupils for grades eight, Ten and Eleven but water and electricity has not yet been connected.

Kaingu has since tasked the District Education Board Secretary for Sioma, Moola Moola to make a follow up with ZESCO limited in the district on connecting power to the school.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kaingu says the building of 35 secondary schools which started after 2011, is at different levels of construction.
