The Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ) says Easter period is time for reflecting, reconciling and embracing one another as a sign of love which the Lord himself expressed by sending his only son Jesus Christ to die for mankind.

In her special Easter message to all Zambians, CCZ General Secretary Susan Matale reminded all Zambians that this period comes with an opportunity for everyone to reflect on their relationship with God.

Reverend Matale said as the nation celebrates Easter holiday, Zambians must put aside any political, tribal or personal differences and pursue reconciliation to embrace one another.

ZANIS reports that Rev. Matale said this in a press statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today.

“I wish you all a happy Easter holiday. As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, may his resurrection as believers interpret into new beginnings for us as individuals and the country in the quest of moving forward for the betterment of our lives. Easter period is an opportunity for each one of us to reflect on the relationship with God,” Rev. Matale said.

She advised the Zambian people to observe this period with high caution of dangers that might arise associated with the excitement such as alcohol and drug abuse especially among the youths.

“It’s our plea as Christians to all Zambians to refrain from all activities that will endanger their lives by focusing on living like Christ’s,’ she said.

Easter holiday has begun today the Good Friday April 3rd and would end on Monday April 6th, 2015 when our Lord resurrected to life again after dying for the sinners to demonstrate his love for them.

Easter is the most important Christian religious holiday and widely observed and regarded as the second most popular holiday in Zambia and other countries on the globe.

Many Christians celebrate Jesus Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday.
