Inonge weeps as Nsanda’s body arrives

ACTING President Inonge Wina broke into tears as she and hundreds of mourners received the body of Patriotic Front (PF) member of the central committee (MCC) Willie Nsanda at the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola yesterday.
Mr Nsanda, who was also Road Development Agency (RDA) chairperson, died in South Africa on Tuesday and will be buried in Kitwe today.
The South African Airways plane carrying the remains of Mr Nsanda touched down at 12:30 hours and Mrs Wina, party and government officials were at hand to welcome PF secretary general Davies Chama, who had accompanied the body from South Africa.
Mr Chama was accompanied by Willie Nsanda senior and PF MCC Samuel Mukupa from South Africa.
Others who received Mr Nsanda’s body were Copperbelt Minister Mwenya Musenge, his permanent secretary Howard Sikwela, deputy permanent secretary Elias Kamanga, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Chishimba Kambwili and Minister of Home Affairs Davies Mwila.

They also included Deputy Minister in the vice-president’s office Stephen Kampyongo, Lusaka Province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta, Lusaka Province permanent secretary Sturdy Mwale and Northern Province Minister Freedom Sikazwe,
As a sombre mood hang around the international airport grounds, Mrs Wina could not hold her emotions and broke down as pall bearers carrying the casket walked past the military procession to an awaiting Ideal Funeral Parlour hearse.
The body of Mr Nsanda was taken to the house of mourning in Kitwe.
And Mrs Wina said it will be hard to replace Mr Nsanda, MWILA NTAMBI reports.
Mrs Wina conveyed President Lungu ‘ s condolences to the Nsanda family.
“The president is heart-broken and feels he should have been here to mourn but he is out of the country for national duties,” she said.
Mrs Wina said yesterday when she visited the house of mourning in Kitwe ‘ s Garneton area that the late Mr Nsanda did a lot for the ruling party.

“Mr Nsanda was not only a member of the PF but he was a strong and committee member,” she said.
Mrs Wina recalled that when things were tough in the ruling party, Mr Nsanda was there supporting and doing a lot of work for late President Sata and his successor Mr Lungu.
She said the PF was grateful for Mr Nsanda’s contribution to the party and that members should emulate him by working hard to ensure the party grows as a united front.
Mr Sikazwe said the PF has lost a son who stood for the betterment of the party.
And Copperbelt Province deputy permanent secretary Elias Kamanga described Mr Nsanda as a man who made a special impact not only to the party but also on him as a person.
Mr Kamanga said the nation will remember Mr Nsanda as a man who was instrumental in the construction of roads in the country through the Link Zambia 8,000 and Pave Zambia 2,000 projects.
Mr Nsanda will be buried at Kitwe’s Nkana East cemetery today.
