Zambia to increase press attaché appointments

Information Deputy Minister Forrie Tembo says government plans to put in place press attaches in all Zambia’s Missions abroad.

Mr Tembo says this will help in deepening the country’s relations and promoting the investment potential to the outside world.

He stated that government has currently increased the number of press attaches from five to eleven out of the 30 Zambians missions abroad.

‘It is government ‘s intention , funds permitting to ensure that all the country’s missions abroad have a Press Attache, as this is essential to  deepen the relations, stature and visibility with the outside world,” he said.

ZANIS reports that the MIBS Deputy Minister said this when he officially opened the Zambia Public Relations Association ( ZAPRA)  Annual General Meeting in Lusaka today.

He said it is government’s agenda to ensure that the PR profession grows into an important tool for sustainable social economic development.

 

Mr. Tembo stated that the importance of the PR profession cannot be over emphasized as it as it is one of the useful management functions that helps organisations and government to achieve their overall business objectives.

He has since urged ZAPRA to ensure that it continues promoting high levels of professional and ethical conduct among PR practitioners in the country.

And outgoing ZAPRA President, Davies Mupenda said the agenda of the Annual General Meeting was to elect a new executive and also to review the organization’s performance in the last year.

Mr. Mupenda said the ZAPRA‘s mandate was to promote and enhance professionalism  and ethical conduct among PR practitioners.

He has challenged PR practitioners to ensure that they communicate about the positive developments taking place in their respective organisations.
