Shiwang`andu, March 13, 2015. ZANIS —-   Government says there is need for  youths need  to be involved in promoting sustainable national development.

Shiwangandu District Commissioner Moses Katebe says it was  for this reason that government remains committed to empowering the youth throughout the country by funding various institutions
for them to access funds such as the Youth Empowerment Fund for investment.

Mr Katebe added that government was committed to  appointing a number of young people such as new Spots and Youth minister Vincent Mwale to decision making positions in the public service.

He said that there are various institutions such as the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission where youths can access funds to help them create their own enterprise.

ZANIS reports that the District Commissioner added that youths being in decision making positions will allow them to fully participate in the delivery of sustainable national development.

Mr. Katebe said this yesterday at the commemoration of Youth Day which was held at Kalalantenkwe Primary School.

The event was commemorated under the theme” Youth, Building A Stable And Sustainable Future”.

The DC has however warned youths against engaging themselves in activities that will put them at the risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS as they are the future leaders of the nation.

And speaking on behalf of Youths, a student Teacher at Shiwang`andu Secondary School Sandra Nakazwe said Zambia and other countries around the world have seen tangible changes in their economies through the inputs of youths as stakeholders.

Ms. Nakazwe said despite Government`s effort to continue putting youth concerns at the heart of the development agenda, a lot needs to be done for youths in Shiwang`andu District.
