Three candidates have successfully
filed their nominations for the April 14, 2015 Simu Ward
by-election in Sinjembela Constituency of  Shangombo district in the Western
Province.

Simu Ward Retuning officer Sladen Kang’ongo confirmed the candidates
as Siyumbwa Sibiho of United National Independence Party (UNIP), Mwiya Mutapwe
of the United Party for National Development (UPND) and Patriotic
Front (PF)’s Kalaluka Lumai.

Speaking after the nominations, UPND Simu Ward Campaign Manager
Mr Tuta said his party will observe violence free campaigns before,
during and after the by-election.

He predicted that the UNPD will win the by-election because both the candidate
and the party were popular in the area.

And PF campaign Manager Lawrence Nyambe said the forthcoming
by-election was important to the ruling party.

Captain Nyambe (Retired) said the PF was confident that their candidate Kalaluka Lumai
will scoop the seat adding that the party will ensure that the election
process is violent free at all levels.

The Simu local government seat fell vacant after Councilor Dominc Shomeno
ditched the opposition UPND to join the ruling PF.
