Five killed in a road carnage in Solwezi district

 

Solwezi, March 10, 2015, ZANIS —- Five people have died on the spot while four others are nursing injuries sustained after a bus they were travelling in collided with another along the Solwezi – Mwinilunga road over the weekend.

 

 

 

The accident happened on Sunday around 19 hours at Jiwundu junction, three metres away from Kalumbila mine.

 

 

ZANIS reports that North Western province commissioner of police Grace Chipalila confirmed the incident in an  interview in Solwezi District today. 

 

 

Ms Chipalila said the driver of the Ford bus failed to keep to his lane and collided with the oncoming Tata bus.

 

 

Among the deceased included the driver of the Ford bus Moses Lukonde aged 28, Margaret Mulenga, 28, both employees of Nemchem.

 

 

Others included  Billy Lukonde aged three years , Christabel Musele 21 of Kisasa area and Golden Kapindula 28 of Lumwana east. 

 

 

Ms Chipalila identified the victims on the Tata bus as Goodson Katimbe 46, the driver, Angela Banda 15, Mirriam Kabwe and another unidentified man aged between 30 and 35 years. 

 

 

She said two of the injured are admitted at Mary Begg hospital in Kalumbila, the driver is in Mukinge hospital while the unidentified man is in Solwezi general hospital. 

 

 

The provincial police chief added that the deceased are all lying in Solwezi general hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
