ZESCO Ladies donate Kafue Gorge Community Hospital

——————ZESCO ladies of Kafue Gorge Power Station have donated cleaning materials to Kafue Gorge Community Hospital Maternity Ward in Chikankata District.

 

Among the things donated were bucket mop squeezers, cleaning materials and disinfectants meant to enhance the high standards of hygiene for the mothers in the maternity ward.

 

In a speech read by the ZESCO Ladies Acting Chairperson Catherine Mainza said every woman in the community is very important hence the need to support all women.

 

Ms. Mainza explained that ZESCO as a corporation and Kafue Gorge Power Station is committed to recognizing gender issues particularly in supporting women.

 

“ZESCO has put a deliberate policy to allow its women to make donations during women’s day to any organization of their choice every year, and for us we have decided to donate to our local hospital-Kafue Gorge,” she said.

 

Speaking at the same occasion, Kafue Gorge Community Hospital Acting Medical Officer in charge Webby Phiri said the hospital is very grateful for the donation from the ZESCO Ladies.

 

Dr Phiri said the donation is in line with the Ministry of Health policy to have a clean, competent and caring health system.

 

Mr. Phiri said that the maternity ward is a ward of pride to the hospital since it is where babies first begin their lives.

 

He said in line with International Women’s Day, the donation will go a long way in enhancing cleanliness at the hospital.

 

And speaking on behalf of the expecting mothers in the maternity ward, Precious Mudenda said the women are very grateful and thankful for the donation to the ward.
