Malupenga urges police to be more efficient

————–North-Western province Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga  has urged the police to be more efficient and responsible to the challenges of crime arising from  increased investment in the province.

 

Mr. Malupenga said police officers should work hard because members of the public and the massive investment in the province need police protection.

 

He was speaking in Solwezi today during the Zambia police service day.

 

Mr. Malupenga also urged the police command in the province to make sure that the public know about the existence of Interpol office in Solwezi to help reduce on the cost of doing business.

 

He said it is the desire of government to ensure that the Zambia Police Service become more friendly to the people, fair and firm in its operation and enforcement of the law and also bring the services closer to the people.

 

Mr. Malupenga said the positive interaction will produce change and ensure that the community work with the police and develop mutual trust and understanding in order to make the province a better place.

 

And speaking earlier, Provincial Commissioner of Police, Grace Chipalila reaffirmed the division’s commitment to protecting investment in the province.

 

Ms Chipalila called on members of the public to continue making reports to the police for them to curb crime in the province.

 

During the same event 82 officers from across the province were awarded for long service, meritorious and bravery.
