–A 29- year- old woman of Chief Mapanza’s
area in Choma district has been arrested for being in possession of
more than K4, 000 counterfeit notes.

Southern Province Assistant Police Commissioner Kashif Mphande
confirmed the development  to  ZANIS in Choma today.

Mr. Mpande explained that Luyando Simukali, was found in possession of
K4, 200 counterfeit notes at Jebrec Guest House in Mazabuka last Monday
night.

He said two named employees of the same Guest House reported to police
that Ms Simukali was in possession of the counterfeit notes.

Mr Mphande stated that the Bank of Zambia (BoZ) was the only
institution mandated with the issuance of legal monies in the country.

He said the introduction of counterfeit notes by unscrupulous people

He said police were on high alert and those found breaking the Laws of
Zambia in such a manner would be arrested.

He noted that producing counterfeit notes was a serious offence in Zambia.

Mr Mphande added that Ms. Simukali has since been arrested  and will appear in court  soon.
