Grade 10 pupil brutally murdered
Chinsali, February 27, 2015, ZANIS…Another pupil of Mishishi Secondary school in Chinsali District of Muchinga Province has been brutally murdered by unknown people.
The death of the second pupil who was in Grade 10 comes barely 2 months after another Grade 9 pupil was found dead in a nearby bush in unclear circumstances.
Both Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Auxensio Daka and Muchinga Provincial Education Officer Jobbicks Kalumba have confirmed the development in separate interviews with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Chinsali today.
Mr. Daka said the body of Joas Mateyo was picked by the police from a nearby bush in the airport area on Tuesday afternoon after missing from home for about two days.
Mr. Daka said the body of Mateyo had bruises and police suspect foul play.
He said police officers have since launched a man hunt to bring to book the assailants.
A post-mortem carried out yesterday on the body of Mateyo revealed that he suffered a broken neck while all other body parts were not tampered with.
And Muchinga Provincial Education Officer Jobbicks Kalumba has expressed concern over the brutal and ruthless killings of pupils at Mishishi Secondary School.
Mr. Kalumba told ZANIS yesterday shortly after putting to rest Mateyo at Chinsali Council cemetery that it was very unfortunate to continue losing young people who are the future leaders through such brutal killings.
Mr. Kalumba said the recent murder cases of pupils of Mishishi Secondary School has sent fear in the school going pupils and has appealed to the police in the area not to rest until the killers have been brought to book.
“We cannot continue to lose young people through such merciless killings. These killings must be stopped forthwith and am asking the Zambia Police to get to the bottom of the matter and ensure that the killers are brought to book,” said Mr Kalumba.
