The Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) in Kasama has arrested an employee of the Ministry of Youth and Sports for alleged corruption.

ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono confirmed the arrest to ZANIS in Kasama today.
Mr. Moono named the suspect as 45-yeae-old Felix Lengwe of Newtown in Kasama who is also Northern Province Youth Coordinator.

Mr Moono said Lengwe has been charged with one count of failure to declare interest contrary to section 28 of the Anti-Corruption Act.
He disclosed that Lengwe failed to declare interest in a matter where he recommended the release of youth empowerment funds to a beauty parlor owned by his wife.
Mr Moono further stated that Lengwe being a public officer failed to recuse himself when he chaired the evaluation committee meetings that interviewed possible beneficiaries of the funds.
He added that Lengwe’s wife subsequently received a loan from the Ministry of Youth and Sport amounting to K30, 000.
Mr. Moono said Lengwe is currently on Police bond and will appear in court soon.
