Opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) says it finds it disappointing that the President Edgar Lungu has maintained a bloated government at the expense of the poor people.

FDD Spokesperson Antonio Mwanza says they were expecting that President Lunch would do away with a bloated government by having one deputy minister in each ministry.

Mr. Mwanza notes that a lot of money will continue to be wasted on allowances and emoluments for the deputy ministers when the money can be used for something else that would be beneficial to the people of Zambia.

He states that most of these deputy ministers do nothing, and that one minister would be enough to do the work in a particular ministry unlike wasting public resources.

Mr. Mwanza states that President Lungu should not maintain a bloated government just because he wants to give jobs to his friends and relatives but instead should create jobs for the many poor Zambians who are suffering.

He says the FDD when in government will scrap off the position of deputy minister.
