Mines, Energy and Water Development Minister Christopher Yaluma has terminated the appointment of the current Board members of the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO).
The decision to dissolve the ZESCO board is with immediate effect.
In an interview by telephone Mr. Yaluma has told Qfm News that there is nothing sinister about this decision that has been made.
Mr. Yaluma says government only wants to look at business imperatives that will align the operations of ZESCO with a new team.
He says it is this new team that government thinks will facilitate the way forward to aggressively consider the power utility company’s business priorities for the remaining 18 months.
Mr.Yaluma states that government is already in the process constituting a new ZESCO board.
He has since thanked the ZESCO Board Members for their commitment and dedication during the period they served as Directors of the electricity utility company.
