Luapula New PS calls for hard work to develop the Province

Mansa, Saturday, February 07, 2015 – ZANIS –  Government  says President Edgar Lungu holds Luapula Province close to his heart.

 

In-coming Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Boniface Changwe Chimbwali  says it was for this reason that masses in the area should continue their unwavering  support President Lungu’s desire to develop Luapula.

 

He disclosed this in his maiden speech to Provincial Administration members of Staff yesterday in the Provincial Administration Conference Room in Mansa.

He said the Province was endowed with a lot of resources and if properly tapped would improve the livelihoods in the region.

 

He said he was particularly excited about the sugar plantation in Chembe because it will improve the lives of the people and add value to the economy of Chembe, the Province and the country.

 

He said the by-products of sugar will produce ethanol which will reduce the price of fuel and improve the economy.

 

He observed that fish has depleted in the water bodies because of wrong fishing methods and the situation could be redeemed through goat rearing because the Arab world was currently looking for 16 million goats which the province could supply.

 

He said there was need to improve the power to drive economic investment in the Province especially in mining which need much more power that what was currently available in the Province.

 

And  Out-going Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo  has paid  tribute to his incoming counterpart whom he described as a fine man with a rich background as an accounted and a lawyer.

 

And Provincial Administration Internal Auditor Stephen Muzuma in moving a vote of thanks said the staff in the province will give the new PS 100 per cent support so that his success will be the workers pride.

 

He said Luapula could be the food basket for Zambia if properly exploited and it is a goal that could be achieved with proper synergy of skills and expertise within the workforce in the province.
