———–The Mobile Health Services (MHS) department under the Ministry of Health (MoH) has continued to ensure that mobile outreaches are conducted in all provinces which host the mobile health units in the country.

According to an update made available to ZANIS by the Mobile Health Department, in 2014 the department was able to attend to a total number of 113,048 clients while 5,426 operations were conducted across the country.

The program which was initiated in 2011 has today covered 17 sites countrywide.

Operations by the Mobile Health Department have provided health services to people who have not been able to access hospitals as they have to walk or travel long distances to access health care services.

The Ministry was however, also able to conduct 14 aeromedical evacuations by the Zambia Flying Doctor Services (ZFDS) from Zambezi, Mansa, Solwezi and Chilybi island to Lusaka for specialized treatment.

The Mobile Health Department was in addition also able to constitute a team of specialists which attended to the Mbala accident victims in Mbala last year.

And Mobile Health Department Deputy Director Chabwela Shumba says the mobile outreaches will go on this year to make sure that everyone has access to health care services in all parts of the country.
