Attorney General Musa Mwenye has been fired by President Lungu

President Edgar Lungu has with immediate effect fired Attorney-General Musa Mwenye.

President Lungu’s decision is pursuant to Article 54 (5) of the Constitution of Zambia.

In a letter signed today, the President has thanked Mr. Mwenya for the services rendered to the nation.

Meanwhile President Lungu has appointed Major-General David Muma as Deputy Commander of the Zambia Airforce.

President Lungu in his letter to General Muma says he has in exercise of the powers vested in him pursuant to the provisions of Article 33(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia and the provisions of the Defence Act, promoted him to the rank and status of Major-General and appointed him as Deputy Commander in the Zambia Airforce with immediate effect.

In another development, the President has revoked the nomination of Mr. Daniel Munkombwe as Member of Parliament and swore-in Mr. Nathaniel Mubukwanu as Provincial Minister for Southern province to take over from Mr. Daniel Munkombwe.
