British High Commissioner to Zambia James Thornton is enormously impressed by the professionalism of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) in conducting the just ended presidential election.
Mr. Thornton said the presiding officers and other staff in the polling stations have exhibited high professionalism in the execution of their duties.
He however said few problems were reported by the political party agents and domestic observers whom he spoke to at various polling stations he visited.
He said this in a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today by his Political and Communications Officer Tresford Mumba.
And Mr. Thornton has observed that the weather pattern in some parts of the country has created significant logistical challenges for the ECZ.
He however commended the ECZ for addressing these challenges appropriately by extending voting to today in some flood affected areas.
Mr. Thornton has since called on Zambians to be proud of the ECZ by remaining calm and wait for the announcement of the final election results.
