Acting President implores voters to vote for Lungu on Tuesday

Kasama, January 18, 2015, ZANIS ——- Acting President Guy Scott has urged voters  to turn up in numbers  Tuesday’s Presidential by elections and vote for  Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

Dr Scott made the call in Mungwi  and Kasama  districts respectively yesterday when he visited the area to drum up support for the PF candidate.

Addressing a  mammoth rally in the areas , Dr Scott  urged the electoral school to  vote for Mr Lungu to make the succession of the late Republican President Mr Michael Sata meaningful.

He said since Tuesday’s  by elections have come as a result of late President Sata’s demise ,  it makes sense that a PF candidate  Lungu replaces  him.

He said similarly  in 2008 late President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa was replaced by  Mr Rupiah Banda in a by election from the then ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD).

The Acting President also stated that this year’s presidential by election has equally come as a misfortune for Zambia and the PF in particular adding that it is only prudent if a replacement was made by voting  for  the  ruling party that had  lost a member.

He stressed that the long awaited  Presidential  By- elections  is not about change of government but a replacement of the deceased hence his call for Zambians to make the rightful decision.

“  You should vote for the PF candidate to make the correct replacement of Mr Sata whose vision of development can only be carried on by Mr Lungu,” advised Dr Scott.

Agriculture Minister Wilbur Simusa, Sports and Child Development Minister Chishimba Kambwili, Commerce Deputy Minister Miles Sampa and other senior PF members  accompanied  Dr Scott . Others were Mines and Energy Minister Christopher Yaluma and Northern province Minister Freedom Sikazwe.

And, speaking  at the same fora,  Mr.  Kambwili  advised  voters to give the ruling party a chance to complete its developmental projects  by voting for   Mr. Lungu.

Mr Kambwili said voting for Mr Lungu will accelerate development as he is the rightful candidate who can carry on the vision of the late Mr Sata.

He noted that there has never been a situation where a deceased member is succeeded by an outsider hence the need to vote for the PF candidate to ensure continuity of development.

“  You can only make a good and suitable replacement of a deceased family member by putting in another from the same family and Edger Lungu is the correct replacement for Zambia and PF,” said Mr Kambwili.
