UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has pledged and appealed to Zambians to trust him that he will manage the country in an efficient manner if elected President next week.

Mr. Hichilema says he will be methodical, prudent, and efficient in running government.

The UPND leader says his first task will be to deal with the high cost of food by harnessing the agriculture potential in the country.

He was speaking during a fundraising cocktail for his party last evening.

Mr. Hichilema says the fundraising was necessary because campaigns are not cheap, saying he has so far been using his personal money.

Mr Hichilema has asked those in attendance to donate generously in support of his presidential bid.

He expressed confidence of winning the next Tuesday Presidential Poll and announced that he will increase his fleet of three helicopters to six.

He says the helicopters will be used in monitoring election results.

Mr. Hichilema says the money raised from the cocktail whose tickets were selling at 5-hundred kwacha will help support the expenses for UPND volunteers and also meet the other costs associated with campaigns.

And Cocktail organizing Patron, Suresh Desai says the UPND is not just looking at fundraising for the January 20 Presidential election but also the 2016 General elections.

UPND Campaign Manager Dipak Patel called on electorates to vote for the UPND.

And speaking earlier at Mulungushi International Conference during the presidential debate organized by Muvi TV and Hot FM, Mr Hichilema said he has been motivated to run for office of President to “…address the paradox of poor people in a rich country.”

The Debate featured other candidates he also thanked; Dr Nevers Mumba of the MMD, Peter Sinkamba of the Green Party, Edith Nawakwi of FDD and Elias Chipimo Junior of NAREP.

On job creation Mr Hichilema said the UPND “We will create jobs by supporting business, Zambian businesses, to not only survive but to grow and create job opportunities for the Zambian people”.

On education, Mr Hichilema said “Education is the best investment. It is the best equalizer. It is the best heritage… Education breeds the skills we need to develop the economy”, and his party has a clear policy to ensure that poor children access free education.

And Mr Hichilema has promised to continue his message of national unity and moving the country forward.

Mr Hichilema has since flown to Northern Province where he has been joined by Kasama Central PF MP Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, MMD Lunte MP Felix Mutati, Patrick Mucheleka of Lubanseshi, former first lady Maureen Mwanawasa, Party National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango, for two

He will then on Saturday fly to the Copperbelt for another rally, this time in Chingola.
On Sunday, Mr Hichilema will return to Lusaka for two rallies – Chawama on the same day, and the final one in Mandevu on Monday.

Meanwhile Party Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo has appealed to Zambians to vote for Mr Hichilema as president of Zambia next week because he is the best candidate able to turn around the fortunes of this country.

Mr LIfwekelo says tribal politicking should not be used to mislead people against Mr Hichilema beacuse he is most credible, and the UPND has the best manifesto.

Mr. Lifwekelo told journalists in an interview in Lusaka on Thursday that Mr. Hichilema has the potential to steer the country forward.

And when he addressed a rally in Livingstone, Mr Hichilema appealed to Zambians to take voting seriously because the outcome of Tuesday’s election will impact on their personal lives and that of future generations.

Mr. Hichilema says people should take voting seriously in order to put in office a person who will address their plight.

The UPND leader says his first task will be to deal with the high cost of food by harnessing the agriculture potential in the country, if elected republican president on Tuesday next week.
