Acting Republican President Guy Scott dates the Abatwa people of Kasenga Island in Samfya District this Wednesday
Mansa, Monday, January 12, 2015 – ZANIS – Acting Republican President Dr. Guy Scott is scheduled to visit the Abatwa people of Kasenga Island in Samfya District on Lake Bangweulu on Wednesday this week.
Luapula Province Permanent Secretary Joyce Nsamba has disclosed that Dr. Scott and his entourage will be in the area by Wednesday and carry out a number of developmental projects by government.
ZANIS reports that Ms. Nsamba disclosed this during the closing remarks of the Provincial Development Coordinating Committee meeting at Henry Courtyard in Mansa, today.
She said all Heads of Government Departments and Institutions should be on hand to welcome the Acting Republican President on Wednesday.
The Acting PS has meanwhile appealed to Provincial Heads to guard against misuse of the meagre resources coming from ministry of finance for development.
She urged the controlling officers to use the funds prudently for the intended projects in order to benefit the masses.
She urged every Head of section to work extra hard in order for the public to have confidence in the public service system.
She said though many public service workers were excited when the Acting President recently signed the Statutory Instrument for increasing the retirement age from 55 to 65, their work culture needed improving.
She called for vigilance in the execution of public duties and thinking outside the box.
She also called on the Heads of departments to exercise their right to vote in the forthcoming presidential by-elections on the 20th of January, 2015.
