2,921 Ndola residents replace voters cards

—Ndola district has recorded a total of 2,921 people who successfully replaced their voters cards during the just ended exercise undertaken by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ).

ZANIS reports that Ndola District Electoral Officer Ernest Sumani revealed in an interview today that a total of 2,921 people had their lost or defaced voters cards replaced.

He said Kabushi constituency had the highest number of 968 replacements followed by Chifubu which recorded 913, while Ndola Central had 606 and Bwana Mukubwa was least with a record of 434 cards replaced.

The Electoral Officer explained that the exercise was conducted smoothly with only one person being turned away after reporting to the center when the exercise had already ended.

"The voters card replacement exercise was conducted in a smooth manner, it is a reflection of the people that wanted to replace their cards," he said.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) had set December 28, 2014 to January 3, 2015 for the voters card replacement exercise.
