Scott inspects new vet offices in North-west

Solwezi, January 10, 2015 ZANIS—Acting President Guy Scott has said he is impressed with the good workmanship on the newly built offices of the provincial veterinary department in Solwezi District.

Scott said this in Solwezi when he inspected the modern infrastructure which is nearing completion built at a cost of K3.6 million kwacha by government.

Dr. Scott who is on a continued tour of North-western Province to inspect government projects expressed satisfaction that the operations of the veterinary department will run smoothly in the province once the offices are fully operational.

And Acting Provincial Information Officer Laruen Chishimba told the Acting President that the purpose of the structure was to grow the livestock industry and reduce the costs of sending the animal samples to Lusaka.

She said through early analysis and diagnosis of livestock diseases the department will be able to contain animal diseases and reduce the cost of sending samples to their offices in Lusaka.

And Provincial Veterinary Officer Peter Banda said the structure has six (6) laboratories and six offices, adding that with the laboratories in place, the department would be able to eradicate livestock diseases.

Dr Banda added that swine fever disease which had broken out in the Province recently, had been brought under control.
