Acting President Guy Scott yesterday unveiled the foundation stone for the construction of a district hospital in Ikelenge district in North-western province.

Dr Scott said the government is determined to continue executing developmental programmes started in 2011 when the party assumed power.

Dr Scott who is in North-western province inspecting developmental projects and holding some public meetings, said this when he officiated at the ground breaking ceremony for the district hospital.

Speaking at the same occasion, Health Deputy Minister, Chitalu Chilufya said government has embarked on a programme to provide equitable quality health services to the people country wide.

Dr Chilufya said government has upgraded Luwi Mission Hospital to first level status and has completed construction of Chavuma District Hospital while constructing a number of health posts countrywide.

And Local Government and Housing Minister, Emmanuel Chenda called on the people to vote for PF candidate, Edgar Lungu during the forthcoming presidential by-elections in order to guarantee continuity of developmental programmes.

Mr Chenda said government has already sourced funds for the construction
of the infrastructure and housing units in Ikelenge district.

Earlier, traditional leaders in the district appealed to government to
rehabilitate the Mwinilunga-Chavuma road which they described as being
in a bad state.

They said the people of Ikelenge produce a lot of pineapples but they find
challenges to transport the product because of the poor state of the road.
