Govt. still committed to develop North-west

Solwezi, January 10, 2015 ZANIS—Acting President Guy Scott says government is still committed to develop North-western province contrary to claims being made by the opposition political parties.

Dr Scott said the claims being made by the opposition that government has no development agenda is a mere misconception.

He said the PF has scored a number of successes in the province citing the connection of the entire province to the national electricity grid and the construction of the fuel tanks among others.

He said people should not deliberately turn a blind eye to the many projects being done in the province and listen to lies being peddled by the opposition.

The acting President was speaking in Solwezi today when he featured on a special programme on Kabangabanga radio.

Dr Scott also disclosed that three contractors to work on the Solwezi Chingola road have been identified and that the contract will be signed in two weeks time.

He said government is also determined to attract investment into North-western province in other sectors adding that the road is key.

Speaking on the same programme, PF Secretary General Davis Chama said with the coming of power, the province will see industries being established.

Mr Chama said the vision that the late President had of establishing a railway line from the Copperbelt will be done.

He said government will have to move in and bring partners to finance the project.

And Mr Chama has refuted claims that government is being forced to reduce fuel prices because of promises the opposition are making.

Dr Scott is on a three day tour of projects in North-western province and is accompanied by Local Government Minister Emmanuel Chenda, Youth and Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili and PF Secretary General Davis Chama.

Dr Scott is this afternoon expected to hold a public rally at the Solwezi show grounds before flying back to Lusaka.
