The Kasama Magistrate Court has granted bail to the three accused persons for allegedly carrying pangas in a campaign vehicle.

The three that appeared before Magistrate Kelvin Soma have been granted bail of K10, 000 with two working sureties in their own recognisance.

The trio could not take plea because the state is waiting for instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

And in defense, Defense Council Major Isaac Masonga in his first application said the three accused persons should be granted bail as the case would drag on.

He also applied that the car be released as it will be used for campaigns as it will be rendered useless after campaigns.

And the state did not object to the two applications.

The accused persons will appear in court on the January 21, 2014.

On January 5th this year, police in Kasama arrested three suspects Mike Sitali 27, Levy Simukoko 29 and Dickson Sakala 31 for allegedly ferrying pangas in a UPND branded Toyota Hilux bearing registration number SIB 3 belonging to Kasama Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba.
