Two nabbed for bribery in  Mongu district

Mongu,  January 6TH, 2015,  ZANIS ———– Two suspects have been arrested for indulging themselves in an alleged corrupt activity involving K500 in Mongu district.

ZANIS reports that Western Division Police Commissioner Lombe Kamukoshi confirmed the development in Mongu District, today.

She  identified the suspects as Poniso Namushi 20 of Sunga village in Chief Situmbeko’s area in Lukulu district and Mboma Nyumbu 40 of Mabumbu village in Chief Kandala’s area in Mongu district

Ms. Kamukosha revealed that the duo  were arrested by Police yesterday around 09 00 hours by the Central Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) section following a tip-off from Inspector Martin Mwale who was on duty.

She said that this was when the duo wanted to bribe Inspector Mwale with K500 as an inducement soliciting him to assist them release their two brothers from Custody.

Apparently the duo sought Police intervention to drop the case in which Kalaluka Kowaya 37 and Chingenge Chitanda 43 were on December 26th, 2014 around 22 00 hours found armed with an AK 47 Assault Rifle with four rounds of ammunition conspiring to kill a 66 year old man.

The Police Commissioner noted that upon hearing that, Inspector Mwale privately informed other Police Officers and in the process of producing the K500, the suspects were intercepted and arrested.

The suspects are currently in custody at Mongu Central Police and will appear in Court soon.
